ISIS and Jamaica??

Recently, my country, Jamaica, has been linked to the terror group ISIS because of warnings send by the US about ISIS activity in the Caribbean region. It has gotten so bad that a Jamaican teenager was arrested at an airport in Suriname for suspicion of  joining ISIS. When the investigation was done, it was founded that the young man had no connection with the organisation and in fact had no connection with Islam. Thus he was released from all charges against him. This labeling has not only ruined his reputation but also the country which is a huge blunder to be made in these times. Now I'm here to clear the air about Jamaica in terms of ISIS.


  1. Jamaicans barely know anything about ISIS. We are clueless about them as much as the rest of the world. In facts, we barely know much about the religion of Islam. In Jamaica, the majority of the people are Christians with a very small minority being Muslim. So our view about Islam and ISIS is formed by the media i.e. we tend to view them as terrorist.
  2. Jamaicans love America and the UK. In fact as we speak there are Jamaicans outside both embassies trying to received citizenship or visa to enter these countries. Also when the US president,Barack Obama, can here on a visit there was a huge preparation for his arrival and there was much fanfare and jubilation in the nation.  The citizens even wrote songs praising him. However, when our prime minister goes to meet him there is no preparation just business as usual. and to think we were celebrating his presidency and even campaigning for him down here.
  3.  Jamaica has its own problems to dealing with which includes the high crime and murder rate,unemployment,corruption, debt,loss of industries and a sliding dollar. Sorry we got more problems than over there. Plus this can ruin our reputation as one of the coolest countries in the world.
So there you have Jamaica and ISIS have no connection for now. We nuh need that man plus we irie. So come and relax you self on the beach and drink you coconut water and chill.
