If atheists ruled the world

Everyone in today's world are blaming religion for all the world's problem. Many are saying it is useless and insignificant. In fact many are claiming that everyone should be atheists. Well imagine a world where the rulers are atheists and all religion is banned. Here's what would happen.




  • There would be no need for weekends.  Weekends were created in order for the general public to attend worship services at their temple. These include both Muslims, Jews and Christians. Also these times were specially need for rest from their labour and family time. In an atheist society, there would be no need for persons to attend church or the temple, hence, they would be expect to work a full 7 days a week. Governments would use this opportunity to increase the productivity of all industries which would lead to the removal of the weekend totally.  
  • There would be no need for religious holidays. Let's face it. We all love holidays; whether it is Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Passover, Ramadan, etc. We all like the time off to relax, reflect and reload our spiritual being. Holidays also provide time for family, socialization and mediation. Without these holidays, people would become just plain crazy. Take for example if there was no Christmas. For school children you would be working right up to summer with no break. For adults, you would sick of the winter. Stores would have regular sales with no discounts. No gift giving. You would be working all the time. The only holiday you would have is just your country's public holiday and we know that sucks.
  • People would make their own morals. In an atheist society, morals would be whatever a person feels is right. Even though this may sound like a good idea, this opens the door to crazy ideas. For example, in most religious societies, homosexuality is considered wrong and unacceptable, however, homosexual would have the chance to flourish since their would be no justified reason to reject it. Certain etiquettes would be non existent in an atheist society (e.g. saying grace, devotional prayers, swearing, religious education, prayers and blessings).
  • People would live recklessly.  With the idea that there is only one life to live, there would be the temptation to live on the wild side. They would do things that the religious man would never do. There would the increase of daredevils to conquer extreme conditions, there would be lots of partying some of which would last for days or weeks. Strange eating habits would be accepted and considered the norm. And when they do die, there would be no funeral service, after all that is a religious activity. 
  • The theory of evolution would flourish and science would have to answer all of life's questions.  The surprising thing about atheist is that they believe in science and they don't even understand it. In an atheist society, science would be the answer for all life's questions. Feeling lonely and depression? Science is the answer. Want to know where you can from? Science, even there are some uncertainties, is the answer. Want to live forever? Science is still trying to figure that out. So basically, in the atheist society science has the answers, somewhat.

    • So there are something that might be like in an atheist society. The question is which is better?
